‘Why’ I was once asked and I replied, ‘because’
xvi, PZ Gallery Penzance 2019
These large charcoal drawings were exhibited as part of a group exhibition in 2019. My desire to respond to reports of refugees, displacement and homelessness at that time, aroused my motherly instinct to create a home.
Drawn with large sticks of charcoal as if I was constructing a nest or shelter, these fragile drawings which were inspired by children’s woodland dens sit unprotected and unframed within the gallery space.
